So you’re heading to Paris and would like to party with some other queer ladies and nb folk. You’ve used up all your Tinder swipes for the day but you know there are even more amazing people out there to meet.
Maybe you’ve even been told that the Marais is disappointing because your friend visited and only came upon the numerous bars aimed at a male audience. Don’t worry, we’re here to help!
Here you’ll find five bars that are focused on lesbian and generally queer clientele. We’ve also provided the five bars on a map below so you can do a queer lady pub crawl!
La Mutinerie
176-178 rue Saint Martin, 75003 Paris (map / website / Facebook page)
La Mutinerie is a feminist, queer space which has a variety of events. When you walk up to the bar you’ll see dildos hanging up as decoration and even a pic of Beyoncé using a device to pee standing up. This bar is focused on being an open space for queer women, nb and trans folks. Events are varied, in addition to the many nights with DJs, you could also find a self-defence workshop, a sex party, flash tattoos, etc. You can check out their latest events on their website or Facebook page.
The drinks are reasonably priced and the bar gets crowded with people dancing on weekends. The only downside is it closes a bit earlier (1:30am) than some of the others on the list so if you want to party to dawn definitely get some dancing in here before checking out the ones open later (3W Kafé and le So What).
It’s open every day from 5pm.
Le Bar’ Ouf
182 rue Saint-Martin, 75003 Paris (map / website / Facebook page)
Le Bar’Ouf is right next door to la Mutinerie so you can easily check them both out. It is the quieter one of the two and while there is a mix of clients in both, the average age is probably more thirties than twenties in here.
You can usually find a free table to sit and the music is low so it’s perfect if you want to be able to talk to friends rather than dance. There is also a pool table if you like to play.
It’s open Tuesday to Saturday from 5:30pm to 1 or 2am.
3W Kafé
8 rue des Ecouffes, 75004 Paris (map / website / Facebook page)
The name of this bar comes from Women With Women but it’s pronounced in French – “Trois Double Ve”. It has a mixed crowd, you can come here with guy friends without an issue.
The drinks are more expensive here than in la Mutinerie or le Bar’Ouf. It is, however, also open much later so if you head here after the other two are closed on a weekend there should definitely be some people. It might be a bit emptier otherwise.
It has some events such as karaoke. It’s open until 6:30am on weekends and late on weekdays too.
Le So What
30 rue du Roi de Sicile, 75004 Paris (map / Facebook page)
This bar would be hidden if you didn’t know where to look as they have kept the sign saying it is a Boulangerie (Bakery).
It is small but open until 5am on weekends and you will find people dancing if you head here when the other bars close. It is also a one-minute walk from le 3W Kafé so you can check both out to see which one is best for you.
The drinks are a little more expensive than le Bar’Ouf and la Mutinerie and the crowd would average a little older than la Mutinerie although there is a mix of ages due to it being open so late.
Ici Bar de Filles
9 rue de la Tacherie, 75004 Paris (map / Facebook page)
This bar is the newest on the list, having opened in 2018. It is one big room with a downstairs area, making it bigger than some of the others. There are events such as speed dating and musical blind tests. Drinks are averagely priced. There is some food served.
You could go here for a drink and to hang out with friends but if you want to dance the other bars would be a better bet.
It’s open until 2am Friday and Sunday.
